Holloman AFB/Alamagordo, New Mexico: White Sands
5/18/06
Martha would have been 62 today. We pulled out of Carlsbad around seven this morning. Clear and cool. After a while, Fred noticed something wrong with the towing assist for the truck. Since we were to be going down some steep grades, he called the help line. They ran some tests and finally determined that the thing is a dud. So, I drove the truck down the mountain and into Alamogordo. The mountains were just beautiful. Now we have to wait here til they send a new towing assist, four or five days. We're staying on Holloman AFB. The camp ground is clean and neat and very very bare. Had dinner tonight with Hank and Maxine. Nice place, ordinary food and good company. We laughed a lot and that's always good. Some things don't change much and they are two of them. It seems there are several things to see nearby and there are the commissary and BX so the hold over won't be bad-I hope. Jigger is sleeping on the rug and Fred is watching TV, think I'll join them.
